Trust Your Journey

I have had quite an amazing journey with a lot of twists and turns to get to the place I am at now. I am used to moving every 4-5 years and changing my scenery so I never get too comfortable. I love the opportunity to take on new challenges. Well it has been 4 years now since we last moved, bought a house, had 3 children, and stopped working in the city 2.5 years ago. I have been struggling lately with the itch for something new, a change in scenery, something challenging and different, wishing we could move. We own our house and my husband is happy with his job and our oldest is starting Kindergarten in the Fall and I know moving is not in the cards right now. I constantly tell myself this can’t be the end of my story . . .this can’t be the end of my journey.

I decided to take a workshop with an amazingly talented and inspiring photographer, Deb Schwedhelm. Her style is so free and emotional. I wasn’t exactly sure what I wanted to take from the workshop but as I thought about it more, I realized I wanted to hear her story and let myself be open to change. I was looking for inspiration.

I found it . . . SO MUCH OF IT!

I am so inspired and excited to move forward with personal projects. I miss the opportunities I had in Photography school at RIT to create “my work” and do projects that filled my soul. Deb has an amazing story and she is so passionate about her work and her subjects and their stories and she also gives back to the community. Deb constantly said “Trust your journey” This is exactly what I needed to hear. “Be true to yourself” “Own it”

The whole weekend and experience were truly amazing. I also feel blessed to have met a group of talented photographers from all different areas. I look forward to watching everyone grow and evolve! I still feel high from the experience and I’m ready to make some changes this year in the direction my heart and soul have been telling me for way too long!

Here are a few of my captures from the workshop.
